A Note for Parents
This playful, imaginative story celebrates friendship, creativity, and emotional awareness. It gently shows children how kindness—even in silly situations—can solve problems, while also encouraging imagination, teamwork, and laughter.
It’s a lighthearted reminder that not every lesson has to be serious to be meaningful.
From the Adventures of Lily, Olivia and Nathan.
Once upon a slightly sticky afternoon, Lily, Olivia, and Nathan were building a fort out of couch cushions when a strange pop! sound echoed from the garden. They peeked outside and saw their friends Faye and Hayley hopping over the fence — both wearing explorer hats and dragging a wagon full of snacks.
“We found a map!” Faye shouted, waving a crumpled paper with jam stains on it.
“To Marshmallow Mountain!” added Hayley, dramatically falling to the ground for no reason at all.
The map was definitely real (kind of), and the words “DANGER: EXTREME FLUFFINESS” were scribbled across the top in purple crayon. Naturally, the gang took that as a yes-we-are-definitely-doing-this sign.
They packed:
- 1 pair of binoculars (that didn’t actually zoom)
- 6 juice boxes
- A singing flashlight named Gary
- And a backup marshmallow in case of marshmallow emergencies
Off they went through the garden gate, which magically turned into a rainbow tunnel the moment they stepped through. On the other side was a land made entirely of desserts. Candyfloss trees! Jellybean rocks! A caramel river with whipped cream rapids!
They climbed Licorice Ladder Hill, passed the Bubblegum Bouncing Plains, and finally reached Marshmallow Mountain—a giant puffy hill that smelled like vanilla and had squirrels made of sugar running around giggling (they sounded like helium balloons).
But there was trouble.
Halfway up the mountain, Hayley accidentally poked a Marshmallow Gnome with a stick (she thought it was a bouncy mushroom). The gnome squeaked, puffed up like a balloon, and floated away—with the map!
“Now we’ll never get home!” Olivia gasped.
Lily, the calm one, said, “Don’t panic. We just need to be kind to the mountain. Marshmallows like gentle energy.”
So they all sat down, and Nathan took out his ukulele (where he got it, no one knows), and they sang a song about squishy marshmallows and being kind to clouds.
And guess what?
The mountain started melting with happiness. Literally. It formed a slide right down to the bottom and sent the kids whooshing down in a spiral of fluff and joy. The gnome returned, floated back on a pink cloud, and handed them the map with a wink.
Before they left, Hayley turned to the gnome and said, “Sorry I poked your tummy.”
“It’s okay,” the gnome replied, “I am very pokeable.”
Back through the rainbow tunnel they went, landing in the garden just as the sun started setting. Faye looked at her sticky arms. “Was it all real?” she asked.
Then Nathan burped up a jellybean.
The gang collapsed in the couch cushion fort, giggling, exhausted, and covered in sugar.
Moral of the story:
✔️ Always be kind—even to magical gnomes
✔️ Real friends will slide down squishy mountains with you
✔️ And never poke anything that looks unusually soft
The End.
Sleep tight, and may your dreams be extra fluffy tonight 💤
